Q&A Series: Domestic Situations

There is a DANCO in effect – can I get it dropped?

A DANCO is a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order. These typically issue at a bail/arraignment hearing in a case involving an allegation of domestic assault. A DANCO prohibits any direct or indirect contact with the alleged victim(s) and involves being excluded from their residence and place of employment. Because of the nature of domestic cases this often means the one arrested is forced to move out of their home while the other party remains. A DANCO can be modified or dismissed through a judicial order.
